Because of our remote location, we offer unique guest accommodations on our property for those interested in visiting and volunteering. These fully-furnished, pet-friendly rental cabins are available year-round and deliver a one-of-a-kind experience for the whole family!

Many volunteers visit for a few days, a holiday weekend, or even a full week, enjoying the company of the animals and the peaceful surroundings. There is no minimum requirement for daily hours worked and volunteers can be involved as little or as much as they like.

Below you will find information about each area, age limits, and volunteer shift times.

Barnyard (age 15+) 8 AM – 12 PM; 1 PM - 4 PM: A fun-filled morning with the horses, pigs, sheep, cows, and goats. Volunteers will have the opportunity to help with feeding, cleaning stalls and pastures, and socializing and grooming the animals.

Dogs (age 13+) 10 AM – 11:30 AM; 2 PM – 4 PM: Pal around with the dogs at one of our two dog yurts. Volunteers may be asked to help clean, scoop poop, walk, and socialize with the dogs. Group walks, training time, shy dog lessons, and other fun activities are time and/or weather dependent but there is always something to do!

***Volunteer activities with dogs are dependent on individual needs of dogs and all activities may not be available at all times.

Kitty Bunkhouse (age 13+) 10 AM – 11:30 AM; 2 PM – 4 PM: Enjoy a tranquil experience with the cats. Volunteers can help sweep, wipe surfaces, and scoop litter boxes, but there is always plenty of time to cuddle, train, and play with the cats. The kitties also love story time so volunteers are encouraged to bring reading material of their choice to share with the appreciative kitties.

Kindness Ranch - Volunteer - Maintenance

Maintenance (age 13+) Monday- Friday 9 AM – 12 PM; 1 PM – 4 PM: Take a break from the animals and help our behind the scenes crew with one of our many projects. From building decks, maintaining facilities, and painting walls to mowing grass and more. Have a special skill you would like to share? Let us know – there may be a special project waiting for you!

Packing Tips

Wyoming weather can be unpredictable so make sure to pack clothes that can be layered, a hat, sunscreen, extra socks, a water bottle, and a coat or windbreaker of some sort.

All volunteers under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

If you plan on doing barn time, we recommend ridged-toe boots such as cowboy boots or hiking boots. Tennis shoes are recommended for dog walks. Sandals or open-toed shoes are not allowed during any volunteer activities.

Guests with bee allergies should plan accordingly as we do have a wide variety of stinging insects.
